So I didn't get abducted by aliens last night but those lights over in the woods were really weird. My mom couldn't even explain what they were. This morning there's nothing over there. Thinking about driving by later and taking a better look.
It had me a bit shook ngl. Really can't explain what it was because it's just empty woods over there outside of the quarry, there's some train tracks but I don't think the lights were in relation to them.
If it's public/land you're allowed to be on it might be fun to walk around a bit in the daytime and look for charred or otherwise weirdly disturbed vegetation or anything else peculiar.
It's all private land, besides it's on a steep mountainside and there's a lot of snow and ice still. Which has got me weirded out because outside of like hikers or something, who's going to be out farting around in that in the darkness?
I just got back in. Drove by and there was nothing I could see from the road. Speaking of Sasquatch, a big foot was spotted couple years back on the mountains behind my house. This area is weird and cursed, always has been.
I do remember someone operating a drone at night and it startled me at first, but they were there because it was a full moon out and they got some footage from the drone camera looking down at the forest and panning up dramatically to a full moon. I bring this up because the full moon is Feb. 27 (tonight), so it was still a large moon yesterday, and some photography enthusiast likely wanted the dramatic flair of getting photos with a large moon using a drone.
Can you describe the lights some more? What color(s) were they? How far off the ground were they? How did they move?
Over the years I've heard a few stories of people seeing strange lights floating through the woods. Often it seems to happen in more rural areas where other people wouldn't just be wandering around, especially at night.
Yeah it's pretty rural up here. Some of the lights were kind of sparkly like almost a rainbow color, while others were solid white, like a flashlight. Two moved into each other then like turned off or disappeared. No idea how far off the ground they were I couldn't make that out. I've read stories about weird lights in the woods too and have seen some youtube videos. iirc there's no real explanation outside of the usual like swamp gas or ball lightning.

Ahh gotcha. Other than sasquatches with flashlights or some Fargo type mob shit, no idea. Sounds really weird, hope you see something that explains it

edit: Feb. calendar for the moon I think it's a decent hypothesis
edit2: and nobody would blame you if you got spooked seeing this in the sky if you've never knowingly seen a drone
