Is this “mask off” or dog whistle?

Yeah I really can't see them intentionally including nazi imagery in their conference lol. I suppose it's possible they hired someone to design it and they thought this would be a good prank or something. Most likely a coincidence though.

I think it's more that the crew they hired intentionally did this

Yeah it seems shit like this happens a ton to the Republicans, enough that it's not a coincidence. I doubt the higher-ups are saying "Raise the Flag of Woden" or whatever, but plenty of dorky Nazis are landing those small jobs and doing this shit. Like who's decision was the stage shape? Some nobody. It's not a stretch to imagine a known white supremacist org is infiltrated by white supremacists.

Don’t be silly, the Nazis were socialists (the clue is in the name, nationalist SOCIALIST!!), why would republicans associate with socialism 🤣 typical leftist projection

I’d have to say dogwhistle (although I can’t decide if “unfortunately” is appropriate or not).

That’s fairly obscure and requires an explanation for, I assume, many people, myself included. Unless I’m especially oblivious, I gotta file it under “dog whistle” when that’s the case.

That’s interesting, because I was aware of the black sun more than this. I used to listen to a lot of black metal and it was a really common thing with Eastern European nazi bands. There was plenty of association I made between Nordic shit in general and nazi bands, but this particular rune was never something I noticed

I'm not in that scene so the first time I saw it was at charlottesville. I mainly categorized them from the perspective of a lib. The rune was used on some nazi uniforms and such so it was more likely to have been seen than the black sun which I haven't seen used officially by the Nazi party.

Someone involved 100% knew what they were doing, even if some other dipshits claim ignorance

Never think that antisemites are unaware of the frivolity of their denials etc etc

Twitter is all over it. And the CPAC head @mschlapp is all over defending it and saying the left is making up conspiracy theories.

I don't think this is intentional, I think they wanted the diagonal corridors that lead straight onto the state in that way. However, it is still a problem even if it is not intentional because it means that they don't care enough to not correct themselves when they end up doing Nazi symbolism, which means at least a tolerating attitude towards it.

Normally I’m with you, things like this usually turn out to be more coincidence than not. The intentional use of the white square in the middle gives me pause here

I mean that or someone just designed their stage stupidly.

I used to do events shit and this sorta thing being set up doesn’t really seem that bizarre to me.
