Considering Spotify just privatized piracy, figure Ill just do it myself and give my $15 or whatever to some actual artist.
Tips and tricks to ease the transition? Im on android/windows
Is there a way to import my config files here? Have a really long wishlist and it wouldn't worth using Nicotine+ if i lose it.
if you want to de-privatize spotify's piracy, you can listen to it free and adless. on PC using firefox with uBlock Origin essentially makes it so that you have premium for free, and if you're on a phone you can download a cracked APK of it pretty easily which does the same thing.
like honesltly i didn't even know that spotify had paid versions at all for a while, because i (and i would guess most people) have an adblock on anyway - i just assumed it was the new Grooveshark.
i can't stand the ads, and at one point I wanted to pay to support the arts and what not, but have since learned that basically none of my money makes it to them anyway, so figure I'll just return to the high seas
you can interview for it. https://interviewfor.red/en/index.html it's pretty easy
I think, I think, I downloaded mine from here https://bestforandroid.com/apk/spotify-premium-mod-apk-free/ but I cant rly remember
Resonate is an artist coop alternative if you want to give it a go: https://resonate.is/
I have a Plex server on my home network and have a dynamic DNS setup and port forward from my home router to my plex instance
strongly considering setting up a plex server; share it with family/friends type of thing
Y'all know where to get the files for it, I can't find the repo anywhere.
I personally find/torrent or buy my music so I can get physical files. Bandcamp is fantastic for that. I like being able to edit them if I want to use them for anything, and I can make sure they're archived, as well as share with my friends.
It's not done yet but I want to setup my own file server cloud thing so I can put it all there and share it with my friends or in response to requests, I have a bunch of pretty hard-to-find things now.
I think this is the final form for me, too, as I move away from Spotify. I own a couple of records and its fun to own a copy of the music. I've heard Plex is the move for this.
I have so much music physically now (about 35.000 tracks I think) that i'm wondering what would be a good way to share it or collaboratively maintain a huge archive with others, but without getting into trouble.
probably not to the general public, but plex can let you set up accounts (iirc) and you could basically set up your own private streaming service. either eat the cost, or collect small funds from your friends/family. maybe even share with some comrades :soviet-bashful:
Airsonic or funkwhale are nice if you want a music specific service.
The first Friday of every month through May Bandcamp doesn't take their cut of your money (I'm not sure about processing fees though) so if you want to send artists some cash build up your wishlist and make a purchase once a month.
soulseek + a cheap hard drive
you can also set up Jellyfin if you have a VPS or old desktop available and want that streaming feel
Pirate Bay, 4chan, and Boolean operators (site:mediafire.com is what I used to use) are your friend.
I’m wondering if this site has the capability to start posting share threads? Everyone posts an album and a .zip link or a Spotify link. Threads organized by genre. Thread deleted the next day. If 4chan can get away with it..
I haven’t been there in a long time, but are you telling me they don’t have share threads any more?
