Maybe I'm being too rosy, but the illusion of an economy will only stay afloat if no one tips the canoe. The Biden administration is pinched into a zugzwang, and I'm all here for it.

I put off moving out of my parents house for over a year because of the pandemic and despite saving up a bit of cash by not paying rent, I've paid a higher price in sanity.

I was already thinking it would be worth it to move out, even if only to get a break for a few months and get my head straight. Even if I burned through some of my unemployment money, it's better than letting my life stagnate any further.

Can I possibly benefit from the moratorium even as a new renter?

Like, could I pay the deposit and the first month's rent and then just stop paying rent while living there until this ends? Is there any way this could work? Would it work anywhere? Dare I dream of an apartment that isn't studio?

Someone smarter and better at adulting than I, please help. I will be eternally grateful.
