No joke, the US is super strict about that stuff, there's a member of the European Parliament from Greece who can never be granted a visa now because he made a documentary that kinda seemed to them like it was promoting terrorism, even though it was tame af. Soo yeah I might be fucked if I decide to do a PhD in the US or whatever lol.
PhD in what?
For real tho, either condensed matter or mathematical physics.
Are there no schools outside the US that teach that stuff?
There are of course. But it's better to have as many options as possible worldwide because it's hard to get into a good department. Also there are no good departments in my country.
Well, it's all on you. If you think keeping that option open is more important than a solidarity protest I don't think anyone will blame you
Nah it isn't important enough, there are wayyy more important reasons to not want it get caught there. For instance getting my ribs kicked in like they just did literally today to some complete rando who wasn't even protesting anything, or getting charged with a bullshit felony made up charge and having to wade through 8 years legal trouble during which time I won't be able to travel ANYWHERE abroad, to get partially acquitted eventually. I'm pretty careful so I don't think I'm getting caught but yeah. I'm more scared of covid.
