      I assume some of them are because of the pandemic. I was 14 years old a couple decades ago, and even then there were ask outs and breakups over AIM and ICQ. So it stands to reason that kids are using whatever they have now for communication to...uhh...communicate and have/end relationships.

        I graduated highschool in 2014 and breakups would happen over text a lot, but everyone at least tried to do them I'm person unless they really didn't like the other person.

        I guess I was really unplugged though and only had a cellphone and gmail. Did get one breakup over g-chat and had a friend who was broken up with over Snapchat when it was still pretty new, but it was still mostly "meet me after school in the library" for the most part.

          I forget what else I used, but I don't think I used MSN messenger. But I did use a 3rd party client that allowed me to connect to all messenger services at once...forget what it was called, but I thought it started with a d....
