    There is constant anti-wolf agitation from hunters I know. They've managed to launder themselves into somehow being the custodians of nature. I know Norwegians who are mostly just afraid of that wolves will eat them when they go "ut på tur" (Norwegians have managed to convince themselves that they're special for taking nature hikes) or farmers who don't want to wolf-proof their livestock (this also somewhat coincides with Sami people, the reindeer industry as it exists today is largely dependent on having few predators, there are bears and wolverines, but wolves would be an entirely different kettle of fish).

    But the reason for that aggrivation among hunters is often that they get 50-100 kg less meat from the hunt, which is a material consequence of introducing natural predators into the system.
