I think a lot of people do not understand that at current trends this is likely the last time in the foreseeable future that Democrats will control the Senate if they don't add more states now. They might hang on to it in 2022, but they will lose it in 2024 because they will lose Ohio, Montana, and West Virginia. The GOP can win enough seats to take the House back through gerrymandering in 2022 alone. The Electoral College means that if the GOP can get within 6 or 7 million popular votes of the Democrats, the GOP will win the White House.

It took Democrats ten years to win back control of government after fucking it up in 2010. If the Democrats do not start delivering big time for people in the next two years, it will be a lot longer than a decade this time.

They will lose Georgia in 2022 and 2026. The direct connection between the Georgia runoffs and the $2000 checks that Dems walked back on, plus general Dem refusal to do anything, will kill any chance of either of them getting re-elected.

They know all this and they dont care. Power within institutions > powerful institutions if youre a ghoul.
