I've noticed that even the average tech/sales socialist is way more insufferable than the average socialist

Sad

this happened to a friend of mine I used to be close with before I went really lefty

They went to college to get a degree that is good for jobs in industries with very bro-to-chud tendencies, and after they got a degree and a job for ~6 months, I met up with them to hang out for a bit. They seemed like such a different person. Everything they talked about was directly rat-race and/or keeping-up-w-jones brainworms nonsense. I used to smoke pot with them and talk about all kinds of weird stuff, but that part of them seemed to have just evaporated via exposure to this terrible work culture stuff.

I can imagine it's very difficult to prevent the brainworms seeping in if you have to live in that kind of environment most of your waking hours.

So I do work in tech and stuff but p much everyone here hates me, I can tell lol because I explicitly hate the rat race stuff and am generally kinda lazy with it

Nice, same here actually haha. I'm known as the weird person cause I talk about normal people shit instead of teslas, iPhones, work, and our company all the time at lunch

Except I already spent 4 years prior trying to fit in with the culture and unfortunately the damage has already been done. It's a slow process over the last few years to unwind of all it

I fucking cannot stand talking to these guys. It's like, dude, we're on break. I do not want to talk about work. Or going for beers after work, I will never do this again. Last time I got cornered jnto a work discussion until 630 pm. I'm like come on let's talk about literally anything else. It's absolutely batshit!!!

He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster... when you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you
