    single handedly threw away the biggest opportunity that history had presented to the Left in the US for almost a century.

    It marked the 100 year anniversary of Eugene Debs's final presidential campaign from prison.

    That said, we can't succumb to great man theory. The reason Bernie did as well as he did is because something with material roots is brewing in this country. Likewise, the reason he failed was that we didn't have the leverage necessary to overpower the ruling class. No amount of blame or excuses will change that. It was incredibly depressing to watch Bernie fold, but the lesson is that we must grow stronger, more robust, more numerous, and more militant.
