      I mean social democracy protects liberalism's tendency towards instability, it doesn't seek to give power to the workers, just buy them off with temporary concessions.

          Phase five can also be more sinister: Succdems abandon the liberal pretenses of being the good guys and shift to a neo-Strasserite position of (limited) welfare for select voter groups and unbridled racism.

        Depends on the succdem

        We lived through 40-45 years of neoliberalism and privatisation, public opinion shifted heavily to the right almost all around the world. Succdems moved from slightly left of center to left, and got replaced by social liberals at that part of the spectrum.
