I haven't played Oblivion and this is giving me a lot of "We're all trying to find the guy who did this" vibes.
This was my fav quest in oblivion.
There’s a game called East shade that is basically an elder scrolls game without combat and it has a quest that’s somewhat similar in vibe to this one. Given the obv tes influence i assume this quest influenced that one at least in part. Anyway it’s a good one as well

It’s a vibe imo, but I really like pacifist games. Or at least I’m really interested in games that can find a way to be engaging without relying on combat as the central way of interacting wkth the game.
If you smoke it’s a good game to get high and chill in
I really appreciate them. I dabble in game design and i def find it tempting to just default to combat as a principle mechanic since it’s so well trodden.
I think it takes some really innovative thinking to find something outside of that sphere since there’s just no blue print for it. And for that reason theyre usually not as polished as combat based games since they don’t have that shared experience to pull from but I really appreciate them for their uniqueness and commitment to non-violence as a mechanic.

Speaking of Oblivion posting, I've been playing Morroblivion recently (Morrowind ported into Oblivion's engine- they're also working on porting both Morrowind and Oblivion into Skyrim's engine), and it's really interesting. Wouldn't recommend it as anyone's first foray into Morrowind (unless you're one of those people who bounces out of Morrowind in the early game because of the jank- that was me for a while), but if you've played Morrowind before, you should definitely try Morroblivion.
