What an odd behavior. Anyone aware of any art that deals with the concept? Presumably you would get thrown out, but there might be bars at some of them? Were the mall rats drunk? Did they skate. Do malls in wisconsin have drunks in them!?
Every time I've been to a mall I just think about kicking in the digital ad display things littered around, and being drunk around mall music would probably make me and a lot of other people finally do it.
Exactly. It's literally the worst place for that, and yet. There are some sick people! They like to go there in the first place
In my mind a boardwalk is a place for games and rides and fun, whereas a mall is a place for shopping, but there's a dave and busters in the one I just walked through
True true that's like what pier 39 is which counts for sure, but my brain immediately goes to Santa Cruz beach boardwalk and Santa Monica pier which are more like amusement parks
I have been drunk in malls many times, not only in Wisconsin but also in other places, AMA
What age does this behavior begin and when does it end. Generally speaking
Generally speaking - starts whenever one’s drinking approaches borderline alcoholism and ends whenever one gets sober, for me around 21 and 28 years of age respectively.
Congrats on getting sober, shit is tough to kick and you're better off having done it
It’s ongoing, I’ve been working on it for a couple years with several relapses, but I’ve currently got over 90 days again and feeling very good about it!
People get drunk at the grocery store where I live. There's a bar in there. Pretty good specials ngl.
I'm not really sure you understand. When you're an alcoholic, you're not "drinking at the mall." You are at or near a mall, for one reason or other, and at the same time, you have the urge to drink, because you always have the urge to drink. And if the mall has alcohol it saves you the walk to the bar, but you might end up there anyway. You don't know, all you know is you need to get drunk and right now you'd like a drink.
I am 😜 Airports, bus terminals, train stations, every form of transit, city parks, national parks, at the doctors', dentists', barbers', in class, at work, at church, with my family and my friends and alone, I have been drunk in many places and at many times but never once in my life have I been drunk at the Mall, never once, and I never in my life will
In that case congratulations on having the kind of alcoholism that doesn't involve blackouts and ending up drinking in places you never intended or doing the opposite of what you mean to are in order
I bet I could beat you at a "being unintentionally blackout where I shouldn't" competition
Given a long enough timeline and the purported inability to control when or where you get blackout, the assertion you will never get drunk at the mall loses some believability
