biden wins by a comfortable margin (but not a complete blowout) and trump throws a fit and claims that it was rigged but ultimately cedes power on january 20 like normal

the real concern is that some hardcore q psychos are gonna try violence over the coming months. some plots will be foiled, some will happen

if you're hoping for a communist revolution i hate to be the bearer of bad news but that just ain't in the cards right now

People seem to love drawing parallels between now and 1905, but I think most optimistically (if you can even compare this to Russia) we're in the late 1890s.

Why would he do that when there are avenues he can still win through?

This is Trump. He does anything and everything in the institutional framework to get ahead. Norms? Things you don't do just because? He doesn't care about those. If there's no rule against it he does it.

I will be incredibly surprised if he does not contest whatever the result is and take that to the fullest extent of the law available to him, which in this case is the supreme court.

He has absolutely no incentive to not do that and to not leave on January 20. There is nothing that will stop him. His lawyers will even recommend it to him.

One fear of mine is if Biden wins Texas and Arizona, and that is what tips things in Biden's favor. That happens and Trump's gonna ramp up the racism to 11 with accusations of "illegals voting".

I didn't even realize the election was tomorrow and I honestly wish they both would fucking die cuz I'm so fucking sick of all of this bullshit.

I know it wouldn't change anything fundamentally but it would actually bring joy to my depressed ass if it happened.

5% or less. The two most likely outcomes I see happening are a) Biden wins big, Trump concedes and that's that or b) Biden wins big, Trump declares victory, forces a recount that then SCOTUS just declares him the winner and Biden goes "OK."

You missed the scenario where Biden wins big, Trump declares victory, and Juan Guaido declares himself interim president.

      b) Biden wins big, Trump declares victory, forces a recount that then SCOTUS just declares him the winner and Biden goes “OK.”

this depends on the urban bourgeoisie just kind of going along with that (it's not really Biden's call) and I don't have a great read on how ready they are to accept a second Trump term in a clearly stolen election. they've clearly floated the idea of involving the military in a situation like that and are talking to each other about it, so who the fuck knows.

really, whether this happens or not comes down to what the land/energy bourgeoisie are up to and whether they've made peace with Biden or not. Trump will need their support in order to secure the SCOTUS vote and it's possible they've cut a deal to make peace with a Biden victory? or at least, that's my theory on why the democrats suddenly flipped on fracking overnight (bailout promise for the very underwater energy sector).

Actually made a post about exactly this in the morning. The urban bourgeoisie will go along with Trump so long as his supporters make a big enough ruckus to make doing business harder. As Marx writes, 'The bourgeois madly snorts at his parliamentary republic: “Rather an end with terror than terror without end!”'

If Dems involve the military they know they're setting up the right for permanent violence for decades. They will never ever let it go. I don't think they'll do it, I think they'll accept it because the outcome is really not great anyway even if they coup him. It will create so many more reactionaries and they'll be way more willing to organise than before. The military members that disagree with it will start organising too.

Basically if they coup Trump you're guaranteeing a civil war down the line, whereas if you don't coup Trump you can still avoid it. I think they won't involve the military for that reason.

It'll be more of the same. Nothing big will happen without mass organization.

Trump wins big, the liberals are like "well you didn't count ALL the votes" and the liberals take to marching in the streets to demand a recount so they spend days doing recounts upon recounts and yeah turns out Trump just got more votes. The liberals can't argue with the person who got more votes so they go home and hang themselves.

Liberals can't even move to Canada so I doubt they'll do anything more than spam twitter with #resist

Pretty low unless you live in an urban area in a swing state. If for some reason Georgia and North Carolina actually go blue, Atlanta and Charlotte could get a bit litty.

If the country is in a crisis - we can’t do a transition of power. So Trump will sow chaos and simply forget to leave.
