The highest support, 76%, is for requiring transgender athletes to play on teams that match the sex they were assigned at birth.
Sixty-one percent favor banning “gender-affirming” care such as hormone therapy or surgery for transgender minors under 18.

Both are more popular then fucking cutting taxes. Anti trans policy is popular.

More than two-thirds, 68%, favor allowing parents to make medical decisions about their minor children, including whether or not to vaccinate them against measles, polio, and other disease.

People value being able to not vax their children more then they value parents being able to provide care for trans kids. Hormones should be banned but vaccines should be left up to parents. Naked hypocrisy.

They don't actually believe this because of how they treat intersex kids

Then they're all for HRT and puberty blockers and surgeries whether the child can consent or not or whether the child even wants it if theyre older. But a kid who might actually want them because of gender dysphoria? Well now hold on.

I gotta think that if one of our two major parties was actually defending the trans community via messaging and policy this would be different. The right runs their anti-trans messaging basically unopposed except by individuals on social media and chronically underfunded advocacy groups.

the right wing has created a situation in america where your average person and certainly the bourgeois piggies in the government are absolutely terrified of triggering them and facing a backlash.anytime anybody criticizes anything right wingers or white rich dudes do there are droves and droves of boot licking peons harassing you online over it. you're not allowed to call trump supporters nazis, because somehow that's worse than being a fucking nazi. you're not allowed to criticize corporations for enslaving people, because somehow that's worse than enslaving people. people walk on eggshells not to upset these people because through years of gaslighting and crybullying they've scared people of speaking out. and the democrats, not that they give a shit about trans people, but they can't debate the right on transgender issues because they know exactly what will happen to them if they do and they're too cowardly to deal with it

Sorry I'm an ignorant cissy. The phrasing seems dishonest.

“gender-affirming” care such as hormone therapy or surgery for transgender minors under 18.

I thought that nearly all minors are gonna get puberty blockers. Surgery for minors seems incredibly rare, no??

Being on puberty blockers for too long can be detrimental to mental health so hormone treatment is often started early, after a few years of blockers. Blockers buy time if the child is unsure.

Surgery is incredibly rare except for top surgery which generally starts at age 16.

Hormone blockers/puberty blockers for trans teens is the compromise. They should be getting hrt and going through puberty around the same time as their peers. Forcing people to wait until they're 18 to do puberty is so cruel for no reason

It is rare for surgeries to be performed that young. My guess is alot of Americans would be relatively comfortable with HRT, but when you frame the question with surgery it's alot less popular.

Of course the repugnantcans will do a blanket ban with no regard for if it's surgery or just hormones. And dems will do jack shit about it because they secretly hate us.

A lot of minors are not getting any gender affirming care at all, it is already illegal in roughly half of the states in the US. The results of that are dire. Puberty is rough to begin with, but going through the wrong puberty while being fully aware of it must be hell on earth. These measures kill children, we have clear evidence for that, and that will most likely soon be expanded to the entire country.

I take the moderate centrist position that it should only be banned for cisgender minors. doggirl-smart

Not to carry water for amerikkkans but If the poll phrased in like should doctors follow standard practices with trans youth it would prob also poll highly. Idk I'm always a little unsure about issue polling.

This^ We need to understand that the phrasing of these polls, as well as the bully pulpit narrative is weighing this HEAVILY right now. The parents rights stuff is framed in terms of 'liberty' & 'freedom'. But if presented with the reality of abuses that happen when these policies are enacted - you'd easily see 90+% approval for more progressive policies. It's all in how it's wrapped up, and the average burgerlander doesn't have the time to be bothered to understand policy and repercussions.

Make no mistake, we have a high degree of general approval and support, and we need to be visible and interacting with people for them to see that we're not a stump speech talking point.
