  • It worked for me better than meditation, but everyone is different. If you do go for it, just make sure that the videos are explicitly marked as for beginners because they can end up trying some intense or weird poses you're not ready for otherwise. Personally I liked 'Yoga with Kassandra' when I was learning, but everyone's body is different so shop around a bit of she doesn't vibe with you.

If you're not used to Yoga lingo:

    • Vinyasa(sometimes called by the more general term, Hatha) Yoga is normally what people think of when they think of yoga. It features reasonably quick pose transitions and usually a variety of poses that hit most of your body.
    • Yin Yoga is a lot slower and more meditative. It usually involves passively holding poses for 3-5minutes each and is meant to improve flexibility and joint health. The stretches are longer but can be as intense as you want them to be.
    • Most others types of yoga are quite a bit more specialized or trendy and you should probably stay away from until you're sure it's something you like and want to do.

Ideally you would use a freestanding barbell, but a dumbbell modification is perfectly okay. You'll lose out on working a lot of your stabilizers and will likely have to favor your back or legs with positioning at a smith machine and it makes the overall movement of the exercise pretty awkward and ineffective.

  • I like to recommend this site as a quick reference guide to find exercises if I want to change things up when planning for a workout. There is a directory sorted by muscle group and articles that are actually fairly well written, including citations usually if that interests you. I linked to the general article because it links to the more specific muscle groups from it because like most exercise focused sites it can be a little tough to navigate.

As another user noted, deadlifts when done with good form will work your traps and spinal erectors along with the rest of the posterior chain. Take some time to really make sure you have good form before you hurt yourself when you try to push higher weights.

I strongly recommend following a more strict workout in the beginning rather than winging it so that you don't start yourself off with major muscle imbalances. At the very least, add in some bicep work on your back day, triceps on your chest day, and abs and shoulders whenever you can squeeze them in.

  • I've had a cat classified as an ESA for about seven years now. My partner has some legitimate anxiety issues and we were given an official notice from a therapist and a second one from a medical doctor that we need to renew every few years. Funny enough we actually only had him classified as an ESA at the suggestion of a leasing agent in the first place to avoid pet rent which has been awesome. We've avoided all pet deposits, extra pet rent, and have had him in "no pets allowed" apartments. Honestly, in the beginning it was as simple as asking our primary doctor for it outright and they wrote a hilariously simple - "I'm a doctor and I recommend this person have an animal" letter. It was genuinely one sentence.

I have also lived in 4 different states in managed apartment complexes during this period. Some complexes have not given even the slightest fuck and some have called our doctors to verify the legitimacy of the paperwork (HIPPA is a thing and they get told to fuck off if they do😂). It's all going to depend where you're trying to move to and the type of place. In every case we've let the agents know we have an ESA classified animal at lease signing and submitted whatever they've requested.

  • That's definitely the case then as most major instances pushed updates around then. Lemmy.World has been particularly bad since it's still running on the old 0.18.x version of Lemmy.

The bugs have been opened and the devs made aware of the issues. For now just be patient as things get worked on as it is the holiday season.

I always hate any viral math post for the simple reason that it gives me PTSD flashbacks to my Real Analysis classes.

The blog post is fine, but could definitely be condensed quite a bit across the board and still effectively make the same points would be my only critique.

At it core Mathematics is the language and practices used in order to communicate numbers to one another and it's always nice to have someone reasonably argue that any ambiguity of communication means that you're not communicating effectively.

As a video game obsessed teen in the mid 2000's it used to be the most exciting event of the year. It was where you learned about everything that was happening in the industry.

It's been a shadow of its former self for a long time though so as sad as it is to see it go, I think it was time to move on once everyone and their mother and grandmother started being perpetually online.

  • I'm aware of at least some of the recent issues and I'm absolutely sympathetic. Innocence is something that you just can't get back once you've seen some of the more depraved parts of humanity 🫤.

With that being said, you did come in a bit too hot on this one. I think you could have made your point that it's possible this type of a system would be used for illicit purposes without directly throwing suspicion onto the OP and it would have accomplished the same goal.

As an outside observer it really reads like someone asking how to safely share family photos and you coming in and saying "Why do you want this, pedo? Sounds like something a pedo would say!" Obviously this a satirical dramatization, but your 2nd, 3rd and 5th paragraphs give your response a very accusatory tone even if that wasn't your intent. I think most rational people would react strongly negatively to implicitly being called a pedophile in earnest.

  • The game averages your highest level equip for each gearslot when you start a new area. It has a Dark Souls style weapon upgrade system so if you pump upgrades into a bunch of weapons/armor and then don't use them you can handicap yourself.

The lower level upgrade materials start to get VERY abundant once you move up to another tier so the difficulty will end up leveling out on the next area as long as you don't screw yourself too hard.
