The actual composition of the music is 9/10 on his albums. Kanye himself is a horrible lyricist that brings the songs down to 5-6.
You're going through a great chorus with some talented gospel and soul singers set to a great funky beat and then Kanye opens his mouth and ruins everything.
It's really a genre, that despite loving deeply, I've largely aged out of. Watching high-schoolers navigate their love lives is interesting in middle school but when you're in your 20's it's just a bit creepy.
I'd honestly be satisfied if they were just 25 instead of literal children. At least then I can rationalize it as them being adults even if they are a good bit younger than me. So many good stories ruined by appealing to the lowest common denominator.
