:so-true: Bazinga! In order for it to be a colony there literally has to be guys in pith helmets strapping people to cannons and cutting off hands for failing to meet resource quotas! Colonialism is not an abstract extractive relationship between a core and periphery, it's when heckin victorian era clothes and literal territorial annexation!
France is colonialist? So, you're saying Macron is a member of the Union coloniale française, or do you just call everything you don't like "colonialist"?

In the case of the Falklands, for me it's less about democracy, and more that no single nation like the US or UK or France should be able to claim sovereignty over far-flung islands across the globe which then confer unearned navigational and resource rights.
Also the Amazon, Northern Canada, de Jure Palestine, Kashmir, various islands across the world like New Caledonia, the Northern Territory (Australia) and a few more
I'm not sure what you do with border regions, per say. Kashmir can't operate independently in any serious fashion. Its always going to be dominated by one of its economic neighbors, so there's a real argument that it should be integrated and its citizens secured as legal residents of that country, rather than operating as a wealthy but conflict-ridden gray zone.
Same with the Palestinian states, as they are currently constructed. The current Israeli partition can't endure. Either you have a united Palestine with continuous borders absent Israeli occupation or you incorporate the Palestinian authority into the Israeli state. But this state of statelessness is intolerable. I'm not even sure if you can define Palestine as a colony in the modern sense. Its more just a series of open-air prisons.
this mother fucker really going to look me dead in the eye and say that French Guiana is not a colony?

EDIT: Thanks for the gold kind stranger!
It’s not colonialism unless it happens in someone’s colon, otherwise it’s just sparkling capitalism

Puerto Rico is a commonwealth, not a colony. Its right there in the name.
The US Virgin Islands are simply where we store our national reserve of virgins.
Nobody ask about Haiti.
Ackshually it is an overseas department and not a colony.
Tankies destroyed by facts and logics.
