any kind of fiber arts/crafts is so useful to know, imo. Anything makes for wonderful gifts (I can make dice bags, scarfs, gloves and socks…pretty easily) and honestly I just like being a part of things like what I wear on that level- that my labor feeds into my life on a level greater than a wage. It’s like the opposite of commodity fetishism; I feel much more connected with the labor and what is required to make something, which makes me appreciate both the effort and the thing itself more.
