Where curly hair finally goes to get owned is the dry comb the next day. I guess it's expected you shower every day, but I'm a disgusting little dirtbird. The curls will stick overnight but that shit seems to tangle easily, and if you run the wide tooth comb through it you end up with the weird fluffy wavy thing again.

suddenly this has become really high maintenance

If you tie them up, in a braid, or bun overnight they keep longer. Sleeping cap is the ideal solution, but requires a sleeping cap. Just don't sleep with open hair.

I also like putting some oil into them overnight, but ymmv.

I did in fact find that the curls held really well when I scrunchy'd them up overnight, but tangles. Also my hair is down to my ass so Idrk if a bun or cap would be feasible.

You could look into what kind of caps exist, you are certainly not the only curly haired person with very long hair.

Looked it up, jumbo nightcaps exist.

About the tangles: I always brush in the shower with conditioner in my hair, never dry, because it would be very annoying and painful, because of tangles. Thanks to my hairtype you don't see them anyway, so I don't need to wash everyday.

Curly hair looks so good, but it always sounds like so much work.

As a disgusting dirtbird myself I'm glad I got straight.

That's why you invest in a good leave in conditioner, some coconut oil (not a lot, like a teaspoon for your mids and ends), and a detangling brush.

That's how I manage at least.

Edit: I also use silk pillowcases and I use a silk bonnet too (if I'm cleaning my silk pillow cases).

Use hair masks like once a week too. Keep it in overnight. Alternatively you could do a hot oil treatment for your scalp and hair (like 6-8 hours) but you would need to wear a plastic hair cap all day. Also you would need a lot of oil too. But both methods are perfect.

          Oh no not at all!

I should've added; by invest I meant time. It takes time to find a good leave in conditioner for your hair. So take time to look now, you want something that doesn't have silicone free so it doesn't ruin your hair. Masks are something you need to experiment with; look up lots of reviews and see what you can get in stores. These 2 products are probably going to be the most expensive things you buy (assuming you just get a silk case on Amazon like I did, and not buy the name brand ones).

The brush that I have is like 12$ and is a dream; and coconut oil is relatively cheap too. I'll drop some of the products I use quick

          Brush: Crave naturals detangling brush

          Amazon: 11.99

Coconut hair oil: whatever I find in the store that's cheap. I literally just go to the supermarket and grab a jar of coconut oil.

That shouldn't be more than 6$

Leave in conditioner: shea moisturizer deep moisturizing leave in conditioner

          Amazon: 12.97

Hair mask: I haven't used one in a while. I just use a hot oil treatment since I already have the oil.

Price: same for the coconut oil.
