That was because they did the meme path. Modern kids animation seems to have 2 paths: heartfelt genuine stuff (gravity falls, sheera, Kippo, Amphibia, lady bug, Craig or the creek) and meme path (teen titans go, thunder cats)
yeah it is either "over the garden wall" this a passion project we have and want to do something cool or awful show doing a cash grab to sell merchandise no middle ground in this
