I just read it and, I need to rant . I defended this manga to my friends and coworkers and now I have to tell them in the end they were right. Like it just bugs me so much that they tried to end this manga on some weird ass theme of love. I feel like I'm missing something aot has never been about love. I thought it was more about freedom than love.
Eren has not only killed billions of people but he's trampled on all the forests and all the land. How the fuck are they preparing for war if there's barely any food and barely any people. Eren killed everyone, most of the world is probably trying to just get back on it's feet.Theres no infrastructure left. The eldians are probably the only people in the world who went largely unaffected who would be strong enough to fight a war with them I really do not understand.
The author did a shitty version of the code geass ending. And an even shittier version of the watchmen ending. When Ozymandias killed people to start world peace it was known that he was the villain. He wasn't noble he was a monster. And when he asked dr.manhatten if it would work blue man tells him "lol maybe dude Idk." That shit was poignant it worked cause it showed that for all of the scheming Ozymandias went through his plan was still stupid as hell and would probably not lead to world peace. In AOT they try to make it look like this was the only way forward for eren. Fuck that.
The worst part about all this is all the eldians acting like eren was a hero and led a noble sacrifice. Like what the fuck are you talking about! You already knew what his plan was why did you try to stop him if you just agreed with his point all along. Stupid motherfuckers on reddit are talking about how much they sympathize with eren, and I've never hated reddit more. They'll say "well I understand he did it for the people he loves I'd do the same." What!! You would kill billions of people without even trying anything else first for the people you love? You guys were right reddit is filled with fascist cause I have no idea how you could possibly see eren in any positive light. He fucked up earth more than thanos did! If you think about it he's worse than most manga villains. Hell even griffith didn't kill 80 fucking % of the population.
Eren doesn't get to be redeemed cause he has sad boy feelings about killing billions of people. Didn't he have the ability to affect events in the past? You stupid asshole do something then!! Why do you feel trapped when you could do literally anything else and it would be better than this. What's funny is I don't even hate this ending because eren killed everyone. I hate how the author tried to make it seem as if eren was somehow a tragic hero for doing what he did. Same reason I hate tokyo ghouls ending. Authors just let your monsters be monsters, you don't need to make them sympathetic. The whole reason for showing them grow up throughout the series is to show their path towards darkness. It feels like such a cop out to show how much of an enemy of the world eren is then back pedal and try to make him the tragic hero. And don't even get me started on ymir. The author really tried to say her love for the king is what kept her in bondage for so long. Shit makes me throw up.
You all were right Aot was fascist as hell, and I don't feel like I've wasted my time, but I definitely feel like I should listen when smart leftists state their feelings on stuff. If anyone has any recs of GOOD manga let me know.
Eren killed billions of people
lmfao what? this series really went batshit huh
Nah I wasn't ever gonna finish the series, now I'm just hunting through for lols
What!! You would kill billions of people without even trying anything else first for the people you love?
I'm gonna skim the last 10 or so chapters cause all this sounds so funny and absurd, and I just found a part where the characters are talking about how to deal with eren, and they say "hey we could use your colossal titan power to just explode him!" and then he says "We have to at least try something else first before we just kill eren"
LMFAO
And then eren genocides the planet :michael-laugh:
Edit: anyone know what chapters contain the highest density of wtf?
If you haven't read any of the manga previously then 120-123 should be a trip lmao
Also 126 is generally considered even by fans to be the dumbest fucking chapter with one of the (unintentionally) funniest final pages in the manga
I picked it back up after some told me about the time travel and BOY what a waste of time. I was kinda unsure about some people saying it was just about Japanese militarism and nationalism but damn the ending proved them right lol
Also humongous laugh out of Armin thanking Eren for committing genocide
Armin thanking Eren for committing genocide
made me sad mang
Armin thanking Eren for committing genocide
wtf does Armin have a completely different character in the anime?
How do we go from Armin being pissed at Eren for going to war in the first place, and also sick from having nuked Marley's port to thanking Eren for killing 10,000x more people and also starting a war of subjugation on the survivors?
How the fuck are they preparing for war if there’s barely any food and barely any people
you can see Historia preparing for war and people cheering for it - the implication is that Paradis is going to become the new imperialist force, thus continuing the cycle of Eldia and Marley switching power
it's fucking gross, especially because of how obvious it is it's an israel/palestine allegory
Oh ok that makes more sense. I wasn't even thinking about them trying to become the new super power. Wow I somehow hate this series even more
Yeah, I'm glad I dropped it after the timeskip.
recs
Golden Kamuy rules. The closest point of comparison is Jojo of jojo didn't have magic and just ran on action movie rules.
Spy X Family is very cute and fun. Good found family shenanigans.
Dungeon Meshi is maybe the best dnd style fantasy I've ever read. It's a great cooking manga, and it's very funny.
I'm enjoying Talentless Nana. Death Note if it took place at the school from MHA and all the characters were a little dumber.
I've heard nothing but good things about Chainsaw Man and Promised Neverland, but haven't read them.
Kaiji is very good.
I'm enjoying one piece, though I'm like a year behind.
Promised Neverland
First arc is awesome, but you miiiiiight wanna skip the rest lmao
Oooh I've read Golden Kamuy and Dungeon Meshi (been at least a year lol should probably catch up on those), do second your opinion on those I like one piece myself but it's a long one (think it reached its 1000th chapter like a month or two ago)
Spy X Family
I had a strong feeling that it'll go into the "GDR is evil and authoritarian, FRG is good and free" direction and stopped reading.
It hasn't yet (at least not overtly), but that's fair. I'm enjoying it, but I'm also worried about that happening.
You can really tell the author ran out of love for the projects and kept on because of inertia and money and stuff
I lost intrest back when it was fully established titans and whatever were bullshit and simlly be whatever the plot needed at the moment. I knew this was going to happen but I am still sad it had to happen like this.
TBH, the last year or so worth of chapters were all over the place for me and I was really having a hard time keeping up with what the hell was going on. I felt like anything post-time skip just lost all sorts of coherency if you weren't reading the previous five chapters before the latest, and I just didn't have time for that. But yeah, that last chapter was a doozy of what the fuckery.
Honestly yes. We already know why eren came to the conclusions he did. I don't know why someone who literally trampled on billions of people needs to be viewed as sympathetic it's just dumb. Protagonist doesn't need to mean good guy. Yea their forgiveness is why I hate the ending. I don't hate that eren became the big evil but why make it seem like what he did was necessary.
