So, if this is true, Capitol Police are referring Twitter engagement to local PDs for follow up. Apparently the woman in California had retweeted something the capitol police found threatening.
This is very not good.
Yeah I disabled my account this week. Best decision this year so far.
I'm keeping mine (it's an anonymous account purely for local stuff), but I'm damn sure gonna be a lot more careful about engagement.
Her fritter on fdroid and have that be the default app for twitter links.
It proxies it so you aren't giving Twitter any useful data. Then if you want to visit the tweet from your own account, you can open it from there or whatever and they don't have the whole link chain.
Honestly, posting twitter links here is bad opsec. It should default to nitter just because of how much data the b*rd site collects on everything you do.
wait I can swat someone by just mentioning their handle on Twitter? lmao
sup @neeratanden
I don't think it's much less shitty that cops are doing this independently than politicians ordering it
Also should people only tweet over Tor?
I think it's far worse that cops are doing this. There's a lot more cops available to monitor social media than any single politician.
I see now that your OP already said what I said. In theory the way to stop either is through the politicians
The FBI cracked Tor years ago when they busted the Silk Road guy.
Oh, right. I remember that now. Wonder if they would go to that length for a tweet about AOC but no one who tweets would use Tor to do so anyways.
Also he had poor opsec: https://wiki.freesideatlanta.org/images/3/3e/SilkRoad.Presentation.pdf https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/10/silk-road-mastermind-unmasked-by-rookie-goofs-complaint-alleges/
I am sure AOC will stand up for our comrades getting harassed by the police any minute now
Yo Glenn was on the case about it though he’s gonna citizenfour this whole thing wide open.
In communist China blah blah blah
Also this woman is obsessed with defending AOC
