You're right, it's going downhill. Often when I have an obscure question Google will still give the better result, but then I just use DuckDuckGo prefixed with "!g". The bang feature is super handy.

I use Chrome because my Firefox can’t run YouTube videos for shit and I rely on tutorials/online lectures a lot. Is there an alternate website to workaround YouTube’s player?

I don't know why you have this problem but Invidious should fix it. It's open source, privacy friendly with no ads and you can use it to download video/audio.

This extension should automatically redirect Youtube links to Invidious. Let us know in !libre or dm if you have any problems with it.
