    Morality in fiction is different from morality IRL. I'd argue that something that would be a war crime IRL may not be bad in fiction because, for example, we as the audience can know for a fact that someone is both guilty and irredemable.

    The negative real world impact of the fiction in terms of its influence on people's perceptions or ideology is a separate matter, and I accept arguments that it is bad on that front.
