Lol, my country isn't even done vaxxing octogenarians. I assume i'll get my first shot sometime around September or so, and then i'll probably have to wait 12 weeks for the second one so my elaborate bit of a government can claim a higher number of people who've gotten at least one shot.

Yep, it's Germany aka "we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas" land.

Let's just have another think about who goes first for another three months or so, it'll be more efficient

(and open schools in the meantime, then close them while pulling a surprised pikachu)

Nonono, opening schools is totally unproblematic because there will soon be tests twice a week. What? Yes, of course the kids will test themselves, yes, this includes children still in grade school, why would that be a problem?

I love how reporting is casually shifting attention over to the Laschet v. Söder bullshit now; like there isn't anything else to talk about in politics anymore. Corowha? Oh, that's solved, we've got a strategy sweaty

I can't believe the USA is doing better at vaccination than some parts of EU. I guess I'll get vaxxed in a few months but that's still acceptable. RIP to people living in the Global South where vaccination hasn't even started yet.

The EU, being neoliberal nerds, did the free trade thing and allowed export of vaccines. The Br*tish and the yanquis were unashamedly protectionist and hoarded vaccines.

The US isn't as slavishly devoted to neoliberal market economics and are currently doing some protectionism with their vaccine production.

Guess what country decided to buy only AstraZeneca :owl-wink: hahaha I'm probably gonna die of a blood clot when its my turn to get the jab. God damn this rollout is taking forever.

Not vaccined yet. There is a shortage of vaccines and I have to wait until summer when those who are old or sick has been vaccinated until I can get my shot.

In other news the EU has exported more vaccine doses than it has given to EU citizens.

haven't gotten it, am in new zealand so its probably going to be the pfizer one which makes me so fucking angry because i would have preferred a vaccine any vaccine that wasnt the pfizer one. that company fills me with even more disgust and rage than almost any other corporation at the moment, just blatant profiteering to make number go up in the worst crisis of the century.

Same for my second shot as well. Nothing out of the ordinary from the first shot, except for my nipples elongating into what I can only describe as Autonomous Tentacles, or Nippacles. 11/11, all my partners love them!

On a serious note, the first shot did make my arm hurt like hell the next day, but it was fine after 36 hours. I know people said the shot hurt their arm, but I chalked it up as "whatev's." Holy shit though! Almost made me hesitant for the second shot, but I will suck it up and do the right thing for the proletariat that are not capable of being vaccinated.

I think the Pfizer vax is pretty chill as far as side effects go. I was totally fine aside from a little soreness in my arm for about a day. My sister got the Moderna vaccine a little while back and it knocked her out of commission for a couple days.

The Ontario government has recently allowed the 18-49 demo to be vaccinated in certain postcodes that are "hotspots", saying they will be deploying "mobile units" to get it done.

There has been exactly zero information on what that looks like, when it'll be rolled out, where these units will be deployed, how you'll register, what supply is like. These things might as well be ice cream trucks. The public health units don't know, the pharmacies don't know. The people who are supposed to be administering these things are learning this info from the same gov press conferences that us schmoes are.

Two days ago, in the dead of night, the local health unit opened registration. I've put my name in. There is no email confirmation, just "write down this code and we'll be in touch." I've heard of people in higher risk groups who have gone through this same process months ago and still haven't been booked. This is with over a million doses sitting on fridges, and after government policy of delaying people's second dose for over four months, against all recommendations. We are currently at our worst spike in cases since this started.

    Anyways I voted no

It'll be some time before I get one here. Young, healthy, country mercifully un-corona'd at the moment.
