It made it into a reality show about one cop. Not the other cops on the scene. Not the police as a whole. Not the system. Not racism. Not the oppressive nature of policing black communities.

One guy... caught on video. One..... bad apple.

A shitty narrative

100% he would have either gone free or had a minimum sentence if there wasn’t rioting and a massive media presence on the trial. Remember that when a lib tells you that rioting doesn’t do anything.

His defense team was absolute dogshit. Once Chauvin landed in front of a jury, he was getting convicted of something. I suspect the prosecutors wouldn't have pushed the case without the riots, but I doubt the judge or the jury were overly swayed. They just saw a dickbag parading around with the expectation that "Qualified Immunity" was a get-out-of-jail-free card, doing obvious crimes obviously.

Perhaps Chauvin could have had his trial moved to a far more favorable venue or the prosecutors could have let him plead out on lesser charges or some shit. But putting his fate in the hands of a jury that close to the scene of the crime was a huge mistake. And not even the first in a long string of mistakes his defense council committed. At the end of the day, he got picked apart. Had he been anyone other than a cop, this verdict would have been obvious.

It feels good to get justice for once. It's a relief. We should be allowed to feel it. And at the same time, realizing his same department killed another 2 people just within the last few weeks, and those people will likely not face consequences either. It's sad to be pessimistic or cynical right now, but we tend to see what will come of the future. But it doesn't undermine this victory. Idk. Many feelings over this all.

Lets not act as if a guilty sentence without a sentencing and without a community behind it in which justice is restored is justice. Justice is there when the community got its wrongs righted - and as minimum that means reparations for centuries.

Sorry, I’m not really knowledgable of law terms. What do you mean sentence without a sentencing? Isn’t the sentencing him going to jail?

He has been found guilt, the judge has not decided on the exact punishment yet, could be 20 years or could be 100. Im not sure if this actually answers the question lol

All the MSM coverage I've seen has been advocating police reform.

Which isn't the finality (nor should it be the end goal), but it's the first time I've seen MSM even admit something is wrong with police. At least they aren't pinning just on one guy.

We'll see if they pay any attention to other police murders people protest. (Probably not in the MSM at least)

Just OJ Trial Redux. Media spectacles around murder trials are nothing new, and I wouldn't read anything into this beyond the historical moment.

One guy… caught on video. One… bad apple.

    A shitty narrative

I don't think anyone is seriously taking that view in light of the two police-murders that took place in the last week alone.

The two prevailing views I've seen are "Chauvin did nothing wrong" and "ACAB", with a handful of neoliberal shits trying to triangulate the abyss.

I see plenty of it on Reddit and Twitter. But just flip over to FOX and you'll see Tucker throwing a shit-fit at the fucking NY corrections officer interviewee for not being pro-cop enough.
