Can't decide if this is literally a twelve year old or just an emotionally stunted redditor. The eternal game.
Reddit---and especially the political/historical meme subreddits---are much easier to not get upset about when you realize (or just decide, because fuck it) that most users there aren't adults.
Broke: "this looks like a child wrote it, it sucks, and I hate it"
Woke: "a child wrote this, that's why it sucks, no reason to be upset"
Bespoke: "reddit is children, there is no reason to read comments there"
Thought Slime is the only decent person considered part of “breadtube”.
True, but based on his streams, his view is changing on that front. He’s definitely open to changing his opinion on that front - unlike most “but china bad!!!!11!!111” people.
If we define breadtube loosely enough that Thought Slime is part of it, i'd rather include Shaun, Curio, PhilosophyTube and NonCompete (and ofc openly ML youtubers like Hakim, Luna Oi or Yugopnik).
I don't use the label like that, though i'm going with "you're a breadtube if you're one of the youtubers from the social circle around ContraPoints and Lindsey Ellis", which officially makes PhilosophyTube the only breadtuber with good politics ever.
I mean, we shouldn't get our politics from youtube to begin with, we should spend less time on youtube and if we do spend time on youtube, we should use it exclusively to learn how to make better techno, but we all know how realistic that resolution is atm.
Definitely. He can be kinda cringe sometimes but at least he’s not way up his own ass.
Tho I do like eric Sophia from curio as well
I don’t know them. I shall look them up.
The fact thoughtslime had a go at contra over her “opioid addiction” which turned out to be TWO WEEKS on fucking Percocet that she was prescribed for a legitimate reason by a doctor gives me life. Even if he was forced to delete it by twitter idiots.
They’re pretty good, it’s a lot of media critiquing with a leftist lens, typical breadtube stuff but they’re pretty fun and insightful, good to have on while doing stuff.
Lmao I missed that drama somehow, I stay off Twitter as much as possible for the sake of my sanity lol
she made a super dramatic instagram post about how she hadn’t made a video because of personal issues and “yeah, a fucking opioid addiction” which she eventually elaborated was two weeks on percs for a legitimate injury and a week long taper her doctor did just to be cautious.
ThoughtSlime was incredibly unimpressed with this definition of “opioid addiction” and made a series of tweets about how it wasn’t even close to any plausible definition of addiction or habit. He eventually deleted them because a bunch of fucking DSA teenagers were constantly tweeting “you don’t know what she went through in those weeks!!!!” and sending him other nonsense and I guess he couldn’t be bothered with it. As someone on day 51 of kicking a ten year habit, his response was actually fucking perfect and 100% accurate.
Damn, I get the sense that thought slime has probably been around addiction, I know he has pretty mature attitudes on drugs in general.
My partner is an addict and it controlled her every day for a decade. I definitely feel like you can tell who has had it in their lives and who has t by the way they talk about it
Also congrats on getting clean comrade!
There should be a reverse psyop youtuber, who makes up reactionary traits so they can get "sponsored" by a US gov't org, but then drops them once they get popular enough. Those that are already popular will never have a Peter Daou moment because they already make a living from it.
It really bothers me that the most popular breadtubers (or "apolitical" youtubers) are libs or reactionaries. I don't watch much YouTube, but I know the youth do and I worry they'll become my old high school classmates who base their worldview on Dr. Peterman and Ben Skapiro.
Imagine being self aware enough to realize that you only really care about your own preferences, and being satisfied with that
