If only Palestinians had a fifteen lane highway, they could have just all driven out of Gaza!

He's not pro-Palestine, he's a deranged boomer convinced that "15 minute city" means walling off sections of cities into sections like they did in Deus Ex since they could only make the levels so big and explained it with conspiracies

the only way to prevent fascism is to make sure it's a 20 minute drive to the nearest strip mall wendy's

These 15 minute nutcases are protesting all over the city near my town, and I'm not even British. This absurd right wing delusion is spreading outside of Britain agony-turbo

It's just a reboot of an older conspiracy theory (Agenda 21). Every decade or so a new flavor of "what the fuck is urban planning oh my god they're commies trying to shove us into boxes" evolves and takes off.

Usually followed by "gated suburban communities in bumfuck nowhere are totally different though, trust me."

I had to talk down a hippie that I work with about this. It's so fucking weird that people think the government is just openly proposing putting the entire population in camps for no reason, but yknow, real actual existing oppression is totally ignored.

Well sure but the hypothetical oppression would affect them! And all those people currently experiencing actual existing oppression deserve it, actually.

Suburbs are more spread out so obviously the chances of my house hit are getting lower.

Sure, I can't go anywhere once they destroy the only road connecting us to civilisation, but at least my property might be safe

How much of an effect did it have compared to regular old capital flight (aka white flight)? That seems like a much more compelling reason to me

They also wanted to live as far away from black people as possible. I don't think it would protect you much against the kind of saturation bombing they're using on Gaza

At least urban planners want to do good

Highly debatable and more of a case by case basis. You get a lot of them coming at it from an "engineering" standpoint and fully carbrained

Oh I don't even mean the broken down people, not judging by the official position or what they actually do even, I get the constraints.

But even discounting those the field is still littered with fully car brained people entirely on board with whatever next planning crime is currently being done

Think about how many of the "anti pedo" and "anti sex trafficking", "satanic panic" leaders that come out of this cess pool end up being vile predators themselves.

So maybe.... if we leave these ones to their own devices it will turn out they are all covertly involved in totally sane interventions. Like they are out there at night doing DIY speedbumps and properly filling potholes thinking nobody will ever find out.

In a sort of "life imitating art" thing I feel like we're getting more "life imitatin AI" thing in that the only relation these two have is having something to do with the concept of city, but it gets hard-linked in these peoples brain that is usually reserved for computers
