There is no future where the US isn’t a major regional power outside of full scale civil war and Balkanization.

by cutting off it's international financial influence to a large degree, it will become far far weaker. but, knowing the US this wouldn't mean less military spending just more of the budget goes on military spending. like you say, the only way America collapses is inwards, which is not impossible but is going to be one total fucking shitshow of violence

I’m pretty convinced this is already happening, but these dynamics take time to play out and just because your right doesn’t mean it’s happening in your lifetime.

I think it will absolutely happen soon. once the ecological impacts of climate change hit the united states hard shit is gonna go ham. half their country is already on fire at any one time, you just wait until Arizona, Nevada, hell even California become unlivable. the great plains farming that is the backbone to middle america is on a ticking time bomb to dust bowl 2.0 with the mass depletion of the Ogallala aquifer. racial and political violence is already extremely normalised in America, with many armed groups already armed and trained to seize power locally when they can. if China supplanted America as the hegemon, or even just beat America back into their own corner, the US empire would absolutely collapse within, and quickly too

Full scale "civil war" in the US would be a world war in my opinion. Every single interested party would put in forces, Russia, China, NATO and south american factions. I even think Cuba would put troops in.

This would become a world war very quickly. And that's leaving out the domestic factions that will be involved.

Why didn’t that happen for the last civil war?

It didn't have a bajillion nukes that could fall into literally anyone's hands.

Foreign powers are going to want to secure that nuclear supply. And other foreign powers are going to want to secure the people securing that nuclear supply for fear of ulterior motives. This will result in multiple competing foreign powers dumping troops into the region. And those nuclear weapons are scattered everywhere in the country, meaning Canada, Mexico and Cuba all have something nearby to be concerned about, on top of their concerns about the international powers that will come knocking.
