Have a hobby. Read, offline, on paper or e-ink. Read theory, yes, but don't read only theory. Read some trashy romance novels or sci-fi potboilers.

It helps to have at least one grill-pilled friend that you never talk politics with. Whenever you're overwhelmed, spend some time with them and detox.

Distract yourself, hobbies are good, scheduling works too, for example set a certain time for posting and afterwards do something else. Ideally something you find fun or that simply needs to be done.

Realize almost all western left politics is just the political arm of the nonprofit sector, has nothing to do with advancing socialism, isn't based on left theory and unless you are part of the donor class you will likely never talk to the people who control how any of it functions.

I know some people who never planned on living past 30, and the 20-30 years that came after that weren't pretty. Take care of yourself friends.

Yeah, I had a doctor tell me I wouldn't see 30 when I was a kid because of my health issues. I'm 26 now and doing better, but I still cannot for the life of me think about or plan for anything that happens more than a few weeks away. If it's two months out, it's as good as 2 years out.

I agree with Knoll. Also - I use Greenwald as a real cautionary tale for myself...

      • He doesn't just double down. He triples down. He quadruples down. Etc.

      • He never admits he's wrong. His apologies are always non-apologies.

      • He never changes his POV.

      • He never lets the other guy have the last word.

      • His dunk attempts are usually sad if not pathetic.

      • Beyond being Mr. Hot Take - he has a compulsive need to show everybody how smart he is. And he often makes himself look foolish and/or stupid.

I like to use stream of consciousness when I post. But it's no tragedy if at reddit I spend 10 minutes writing a hilarious takedown but I delete it because I finally realize it's not that funny and it's not even much a dunk. The digital equivalent of throwing it in the fire is sometimes best. Such is life.

Terminal Twitter-brain. An obsessive need to always have a hot take on every new issue. Eternally trapped in The Discourse.
