It's not because they're "immature" or anything like that, and it's not a diss on anyone who still likes them, it's just that I tried to watch a new video of theirs and it just didn't hit me like it used to.

It's similar to what happened with me and the Nostalgia Critic (Tho admittedly with significant differences): I was a pretty big fan early on and for several years, but over time just fell off, started watching them more sporadically, before kinda just not keeping up with the new stuff anymore.

Nothing has ever made me laugh as hard as when they had to fight silver the hedgehog in that one playthrough

Given that all capitalist social media revolves around giving you Skinner Box dopamine or outrage fuel to lengthen the duration of each engagement so you can be served more ads, it's pretty clear why social media ended up where it is. I don't use TikTok/Instagram/whatever not because ooOooOoo China Bad but because if I'm going to look for addiction pathway chemicals I'll freeboot heroin without any ads being served to me.

I feel like woolie really came into his own and I still really like they stuff he puts out. Just him and Max, the others really fell off.

Yeah I was a little bummed when I couldn’t laugh at Goof Troop anymore without being reminded how much Jon sucks.

Yep, that has happened to me with pretty much every content creator I watch, except for Northernlion, that boomer always seems to be one step ahead of me in terms of maturity.

I've had similar feelings. The last series they did that I enjoyed was the Danganronpa one. I think the fact that they keep playing these fucking boring-ass game-show games is also turning me off. Part of me feels like neither of them really want to do it any more, but don't want to give up the gravy train (fair enough). I wish they'd do more multi-part series again, maybe play some whole games, etc.

i've been a fan for a way way shorter amount of time, but I'll admit I have a boom and bust relationship with the channel. certain types of games I can watch them play for hours on end, others bore me to death

Yeah, the game-show games they've been doing lately are completely unappealing to me.

    I watched them a lot from 2013-2016.
Then I binge watched their Paper Mario play through and some other stuff in like 2018, but I haven’t really watched them since.

After awhile it just feels weird to go back to watching something you haven’t in awhile, idk if anyone else feels like that.

I have a pretty similar timeline, idk why but paper Mario was just super entertaining, also loved to watch their sonic playthroughs. I think after a while there’s only so much they can talk about and I got tired hearing the same two people with the same two perspectives on life. It’s good to find fresh content

I mean JonTron is a white supremacist so you should drop game grumps for that reason alone

I've found that it's natural for me to go through phases where I'm interested in a particular series/piece of media. I'm willing to admit I used to watch The Nostalgia Critic regularly, and then gradually stopped, partly because of Doug Walker and Channel Awesome's well-documented awfulness, and partly because, like you said, I outgrew it and had moved on to other things. I found I wasn't as interested in his videos anymore.

It will probably happen with the things I currently spend my time doing on the internet as well, e.g. watching Red Letter Media, using Hexbear. I went through a year during which I was a regular Chapo listener, and even that I don't listen to as often as I used to. I hope that I do grow out of the things I'm currently into and find new interests -- otherwise I'll become a boomer who complains about how kids these days don't like Led Zeppelin.

Was just thinking about them and Nostalgia Critic (also, CinemaSins and a crapload of gaming youtubers). this used to depress me but I've accepted that my tastes will change over time.

Though, if there's one youtuber who has only grown my attention and interest over the last near-decade, it's Jim Fucking Sterling Son.

The grunps are hit or miss. I have met them at events are they are exactly the kinda people you meet at your local boardgame meetup only they are millionairs about it so it is a weird vibe.

The videos are good sometimes and othertomes they are just making weird noises at the camera

The only time I have ever seen game grumps was when them playing danganronpa popped up on my feed. I've known they existed for like a long time but never bothered with their content.
