imagine if they were really communist,
Communism is when you don't trick your enemies into dumping their wealth into industrializing your country rapidly in a way that is ultimately destabilizing for them.
I'm no uncritical Dengist, but damn if they don't at least appear to have a chance to resolve their internal contradictions.
Regardless of ideology, cause who knows what actually going on, it’s just really smart politics
So much of it really did just boil down to "Leverage large population to produce new infrastructure. Use infrastructure to increase productivity of large population. Distribute gains to engage more of the population with new infrastructure. Repeat", for sixty years.
The US dumping trillions in material wealth into the country after Nixon and Mao opened up trade definitely helped spur the country along. But the Chinese were going to get here sooner or later even if the US had continued with a Cuba-style embargo (as illustrated by Cuba's continued economic growth in defiance of sanctions).
While the Americans run around trying to be The Best Country Evar!, the Chinese satisfied themselves with spending every day improving themselves over where they were yesterday. That's the real nut of smart-politics behind it all. Nixon/Reagan/Clinton/Bush/Obama opening the door to tons of free tech and trade didn't hurt. But it wasn't strictly necessary.
Mao would be fucking proud of where it is today. Not as far along as I imagine he would have hoped and with pretty much the same criticisms Xi currently has, but the path is getting clearer every day now. :mao-clap:
If you have the world's largest meat buyer in your "communist" state, you're just larping as a revolutionary
If Xi woke up tommorrow and banned MacDonalds "for ideological reasons" , they would be replaced with stuff that buy the same amount of meat overall
China has 1.4 billion people and a shitton love eating meat and fast food and the CPC wont unilateraly kick MacDonalds out of the country cause "buying meat bad", sorry my man.
Have heard of "no country was ever socialist cause workers didnt own the means of production directly" before but "no country was ever socialist and no party was ever revolutionary cause they werent anti large meat buyers is a new one"
“no country was ever socialist and no party was ever revolutionary cause they werent anti large meat buyers is a new one”
communism has only ever been attempted in Northern India
on a happier note the CPC has announced and included in its 5 year plans significant reduction in meat consuption China wide
Xi brushed against it by accident and they quickly pulled the "EMERGENCY ABORT" lever just moments after this pic was taken.
have you seen the video? Wuhan was wilding out for the centennial

nobody is arguing whether or not china is Communist, are they? They are neither stateless nor classless, seems cut and dry that they aren't. I'm pretty sure the real question is whether or not they are socialist, so if you're looking to start a struggle session at least do it correctly
It’s incredibly more complicated than whether they are or are not communist.
How many Five Year Plans do they need to execute until we can finally put this debate to rest?
Everyone freaking out today about Xi's speech other things on twitter are losers.
I saw the speech, what are they freaking out about? It seemed pretty normal.
i cant believe china wants to defend itself from foreign invasion
:letmeinnnn:
No, Capitalism is when you do aesthetics. The more aesthetics you have, the more capitalist it is.
China claims it isn't Capitalist, and yet it has a great deal of aesthetics. Curious.
