Twitter is big mad about it.
Hopefully they don't find out the last ones were about labor rights, feminism, and weed in space.
The franchise was literally built on the theme of labor exploitation. The evil android is capitalism personified and the alien is the unchecked result of allowing exploitation to run rampant. It benefits nobody and the only hope the sliver of us who might survive have is if we work together to stop it. But yeah wouldn't want that to become political.
It's been 42 years since the first Alien
WE DON'T FUCKING NEED ANOTHER MOVIE ABOUT ELLEN RIPLEY, BADASS THOUGH SHE MAY BE
Ugh
This just reminded me that they're remaking the first Dead Space game
wow TIL
fucking capcom just had to do a (admittedly very good one) remake of re2
I mean I guess dead space remake would've maybe happened even without that but Im sure its a factor
:shrug-outta-hecks:
Either way, it's nice to see new angles on things rather than the same shit over and over
The fuck it's gonna be a show? I was actually kinda wxcited when I was wrong about ti being a film.
You ready for dome pg13 Alien cross mefia co-marketing with your favorite gacha mobile game?
Like, I fucking loooove Alien and those shoes would have been a fucking nice get
But like everything good in life, they were immediately bought up by scalpers and sold for ridiculously high prices
Noah Hawley's pretty good, wish he'd get to do a show that wasn't horribly tied to some IP but Fargo did a decent job being it's own thing.
season 4 was meh, but season 3? With Thewlys as Varga? Come on, that was amazing
I really liked the conclusion of Legion, and I get disappointed by show endings all the time. The last season started off bad plot-wise, but I love the trippy stuff so I still enjoyed it.
ok so we got alien, aliens, aliens 3, and now alien again, but this time its a tv show. Still gonna watch it though lets go.
yeah there was an aliens redemption or repentence or something like that I think. Also there's aliens covenant and isolation for games.
Also there's Alien vs Predator and Alien vs Predator 2, but it's understandable that nobody wants to remember these.
Prometheus was the fucking bomb, dumb as it may be, I will fight to defend it
The Alien franchise has famously never been political when it comes to exploitative and greedy corporations
The solution, of course, will be to make friends with the alien and let your elected officials open a dialogue with it. :liberalism:
That image is still so infuriating. What the absolute fuck is she wearimg? Why? In her own words, please, why did ahe think that seemed like a good idea. God fucking damnit, fucking moron.
She was asked to wear it by the Congressional Black Caucus, so they're the cringe.
Why not make this a new IP, doesn't sound like it has much to do with Aliens
I dunno, I think Weyland Yutani is a good vehicle for criticizing capitalism. Alien is a series that's always been about patriarchy and capital.
The first one is literally dick creatures attacking a woman who defends herself with violence. The second one is about terrible labor practices leading to preventable mass death and women being used by capitalists to incubate aliens for profit.
xenomorphs = fascism/republicans
weyland-yutani = liberalism/democrats
period
Weyland-Yutani is more capitalism than just democrats/libs, though the two are obviously completely meshed together.
weyland-yutani represents international capital and the xenomorphs are local/regional capital :think-about-it:
So...Maoism is where the Xenomorph national bourgoise take a subordinate role under Ripley to destroy Weyland-Yutani
In the french one the government secretly sold weeed to fund their off the book activites. I don't remember if that was in the thatrical cut or the directors cut though.
Ahead of its time politics wise. When did it come out.. early 00s yeah?
First two Alien movies are among my all time favourites, it just seems like no two people have the same idea about what to do with it after that.
