There is a few good posts making fun of it but beware of the many "uhhh ackshully" nerds trying to explain how no one could possibly know that it's a legal crosswalk when painted like that so it's good, actually it got painted over https://twitter.com/anxious_e/status/1410986599848890373

I'm a sucker for safety so ngl there shouldn't be rainbow crosswalks. Make a cool mural or something but yeah don't fuck around with safety.

I'll take it one farther; there shouldn't even be anything to cross. Subways for long distance public transit then all streets should be pedestrian only with like trees and plants and shit

I'll jump out of the overton window, rural and suburban areas should not exist and the people living there should be forcefully relocated to the cities so the land could be reclaimed by nature. Humanity should be concentrated into dense mega cities with the only way of leaving is by state funded public transport that way chuds, antivaxxers, and reactionaries have no way of ever being allowed to travel.

villages are pretty cool. jeffersonian yeoman "my closest neighbor is a mile away" rural living should be destroyed,

but tight knit farming communities are :halal:

Exactly, people can absolutely live rurally in a way that isn't a threat to and coexist with nature. It just looks nothing like what we have in America.

This is another advantage of trains, they can have stops along the way so even really rural areas can have a connection to urban areas.

Who here isn't? My vision for the future isn't particularly original or reactionary. I'm just trying to be ahead of the curb so when the left does adopt an anti rural policy I'm already on it. Like how do you expect these people to get around without cars? Walk dozens or even hundreds of miles a day? Ride horses? Don't we want to ban all animal exploitation? Your neighbor will murder you for trying to enforce a can ban on him, you want to don't you? What's the only option besides moving all people into urban centers? It's not even bad and you know it and you know the right will fight to the death over it. I want to live long enough to see that.

Any high speed rail system in the United States will ignore small and medium sized towns in favor of directly connecting large cities which in my opinion is more important. High speed rail will probably follow the highway system, it's best public transportation be condensed in the city so the most riders possible use it. Bikes and walking should be used more often than any subway however.

America's infrastructure is unique in that it was designed around the car, this design has to be destroyed and cannot be retrofitted because humans cannot walk as fast as a car and trains cannot go into the same places as a car either. Banning the sale of gasoline will be a start, and that will hurt lots of people. That's why city living should be mandatory, any other way requires a car.

"We're seeing a reduction in pedestrian collisions to the point that they're not really happening," Chang said. "We would not have installed these (had they not been safe). They are very vibrant; they are loved by the community and people see them." In fact, the city has a Community Crosswalk program where neighborhoods can apply for a specially-painted crosswalk, Chang added.

The city says it's sharing that safety information with the Federal Highway Administration, and for now the rainbow crosswalks can stay unless that intersection becomes part of a federal project. But even then they would hope to work with the FHA to show the crosswalks work.

"Our records are telling us that these crosswalks are safer than before and we want to continue that," Chang said.

There's literally tons of other cities with permanent rainbow crosswalks. I know a neighborhood in Atlanta that has them. Never heard of anything accident related being caused by them
