well the thing with the death note is that you get some control over them before they die right, Light uses that multiple times to send a message. and so the obvious thing to do is to pick somebody like Joe Biden and have him publish all secret US documents openly, send all military info to China, and maybe have him scream "sorry for party rocking" as he dies to make it kinda funny

I think they do have that access but that deep state is there to step in and run the machinery of the President is too much of a fuck up. Plus, they don't just let us vote in anyone. The elections are carefully rigged so that the only people who can possibly "win" are people who don't even pretend to support any popular policies.
