I've seen liberals on the internet think that there's a clear difference between cops and correctional officers. That cops are bad and need to be defunded while those working in corrections are doing a good service. It's not good.
Aren't abuses in prison pretty rampant? You can't give somebody that much control over another human and not expect it to go horribly wrong eventually. But also, it says probation officer, I'm willing to believe they're less bad than cops and correctional officers. Being on the rehabilitation end of the legal system hopefully attracts fewer psychopaths, but also you are given less direct authority than correctional officers so less room for abuse.
Going to assume that probation officers are not much better and yeah prisons are horrible and there's a lot of abuse, neglect and murder that goes on. Corrections officers are pretty much all corrupt just like cops and work with the different gangs behind bars and look the other way when shit goes down.
Correctional Officers are like the failsons/daughters of cops. The newest and worst cops who can't hack it anywhere else work there and they all suck. Even more than normal cops and ACAB. At least quite of few of them are corrupt and keep our prisoners well stocked with cigarettes.

(sadly) dated one and can confirm they are all corrupt pieces of shit on power trips. even if they’re not supplying a wide variety of ‘contraband’ to inmates to line their pockets, they’re abusive to them in some way or another - physically, verbally, etc. heard WAY too many horror stories & suffered the same shit at his hands because it followed him home. crazy shit. that job literally warped his mind and turned him into the worst person imaginable. anyway, acab

True story but I know of one former (juvenile probation officer who let the kids buy weed, taught them to drive without bothering to get a permit and carried an unregistered loaded gun in his glove compartment. Apparently he eventually got a teaching credential and it's now a high school teacher.
Like actually teaching them how to drive but just not going to the trouble of getting them learner's permits?
a good probation officer can literally do more good than most ppl. They can basically keep you out of jail for everything as long as you don’t get arrested. A bad PO can make your life hell though and throw you in jail for basically anything
Hopefully she's doing it so she can be super lenient unlike all the other ones
