ITT: FTL talk

Did a cool Mantis A run where i got a mind control which I'd use on an enemy and then right before it wore off teleport them to my ship and kill them. If you have decent shielding it's probably one of the safest ways to use boarders/teleporter. You'll still want some degree of weapons of course and the flag ship was a bit tricky but it's a neat way to play.

absolutely love this game. Check out some of the big mods like Captain's Editions or Multiverse. One of my favorite modded runs is the Engi ship you can create AI holo crew members so you don't need to power any oxygen, people try to board you and find they are trapped with no 02 and locked doors.

Mind control is incredibly powerful, if you time and mind control the enemy pilot after you've fired weapons but before they hit you can guarantee hits with lasers or bombs. If you have both mind control and a teleporter you can kidnap enemies and bring them onto your ship.

Also I haven't seen Northernlion play but a lot of streamers are absolutely piss poor at this game

I can't watch people play FTL badly unless I'm there and can help them. The game being what it is, someone isn't going to just do one part bad, they're going to keep repeating the same mistake over and over until they die from it which just makes it frustrating to me.

That can be the case for text events but aside from that you're mistakes and victories are your own. You usually don't get lucky enough to sweet the game nor so unlucky that it's not doable (aside from a couple ships)

If you're talking Rock A, get a non missile weapon ASAP and I'd recommend a teleporter. You can sell your hull plating and hull missiles for 78 scrap to help with either. Rocks have high Hp so they make good boarders. If it doesn't seem to be working by sector 3 maybe consider a retry, not getting a decent non missile early on can drag a run down.

Rich and Jack used to do reviews and streams under the channel Previously Recorded. They stopped a few years back cause they weren't having fun with it anymore and they didn't really want it to be work. All the reviews and most of the streams are on YouTube.

Fondly remember all the nonsense I've done in FTL, buying stun bomb with stealth B, paying the toll with Rock C, leaving my mantis behind with Mantis B. Always fun to see what the newest "worst thing I've been forced into doing" is. To do my flexing though I've got hard no pause wins with every ship other than Slug B, been playing the multiverse mod a bunch (and doing other stuff) rather than grinding it out. Slug B is real tough when you're just starting out with it since you need to be really good before it becomes an ok ship.

No pause wins with every ship is totally worth flexing about. I can respect that immensely.
