Possibly hot take, but ACAB doesn't apply to fictional cops for the most part, because in many fictional settings the world is written to be fundamentally different such that police actually are the unambiguous good guys outside of individual crooked cops. Ergo, unless the setting has written for the allowance of the principle of ACAB, then ACAB does not apply in fictional settings.

They're depicted as bastards across the board aside from Cool Lester Smooth. Also I saw recently that Kima got arrested with a bunch of blow recently.

Even the moderately good guy in season 3 that set up hampsterdam was still pretty shitty. He only became a good cop when he left the police and helped raise that kid.

I would say Max is mostly just a bastard and cop is a subgenre of bastard he dabbles in. He's also pretty big into being a righteous bastard so maybe it evens out 🤷‍♂️

Sam and Max are on record for whittling away lazy weekend afternoons bulldozing nazis into a volcano.

I had the horrible realization getting sucked into L.A. Noire the last few weeks that ACAB includes Cole Phelps, oh well
