This came up on The Majority Report today and the horrible libs said journalists shouldn't be confronted in this way.

Yes they should. Anyone that is openly racist/bigoted deserves to be confronted everywhere they go lol. I can't believe that's controversial. Libs would give way to fascism if there was no "rude" way to stop it

they were better when they had two open communist/anarchists on the show. After Brooks died (peace be upon him) and then Peck left they're basically all radlibs. I used to watch because it was something live on youtube when I was clocked in but it became too insufferable once the last leftist split.

tbh i felt like jamie didn't articulate so well in TMR, she's much better writing or in her podcast

i fucking miss brooks though. i didn't agree with all his takes on latin america, but he was by far the best one at doing them

tried watching one of his episodes with richard wolff and i couldn't finish because i got too sad :deeper-sadness:

yeah honestly i think jamie got steamrolled by both brooks and seder pretty much all the time and it was pretty aggravating to watch, i think in that environment she understandably had trouble articulating herself since she was just anticipating the next interruption or brush off

i would say it's both but yea, sometimes i couldn't watch because they just really kept interrupting her

and then we had that episode where sam was a huge asshole to her, that's when i stopped watching TMR every time he was in

        Sam was out lmao

All I heard was Matt Lech say he's of two minds about this kind of thing but I missed the elaboration.

Yeah, it was Matt and Emma more or less agreeing that they find this satisfying, but ultimately focus should be on confronting politicians not journalists.

          Confront everyone

Sam plugged Va*sh to one of his callers last week and I died a little inside.

Sam is like me and the only thing of V**sh he's seen is when he went on Tim Pool's show and made him look like a fool.

Yeah, today's episode even ended with Emma saying "thanks for the call, man!" to a trans woman who stated her pronouns at the beginning of the call. Great!

This is of course my perspective, but it sounded like that caught the caller off guard a lot and her tone changed when she said bye. Like 30 seconds later Matt apologized for Emma saying Emma says man to everyone lol. Gonna go ahead and say don't just assume someone wants to be called man

Holy fuck Emma sucks. I know she has big shoes to fill, but I'm not even saying she's bad because she can't balance humor and seriousness like Michael could (who can?) or because she's not as funny as Michael was (who is?), she's just really fucking awful on her own merits.

                    Her politics, mainly.

Michael and Jamie challenged Sam and pulled the overall show to the left at least a little bit. From the little I've listened to since Michael's passing, it really seems like Emma just stews in the same tepid succdemmery that Sam does

"As a trans woman" I honestly hate that kinda shit so much, especially when you've been explicit about your pronouns. Cis people don't know how invalidating getting called "man" is when you've fought for years to be seen as a woman. And the "oh they just call everyone dude/man" thing is BS. It's easy to avoid if you actually try. The more it's waived off as being "fine because they do it to everyone" the more that person doesn't learn to adapt and change their language.

Politicians lol? Tucker Carlson has more influence and wields more power than 99% of wetblanket politicians, they can shut the fuck up with that take.

I'm not holding my breath for that nuanced take. Like if these people are as deadly as people on the Majority Report say, it's morally wrong not to confront them.

Matt: "I absolutely think Tucker deserves to be confronted in public" and then he makes a point about some local reporters he knows.

      Emma's take sucks.

@ 3:14 is the specific part I'm referencing. He says it's enjoyable, but doesn't want to encourage it. Then directs people at politicians instead.

There is nothing unreasonable or bad about that take. "I don't know if we as journalists should encourage it" is perfectly reasonable. And politicians absolutely are a better target.

Confronting people that promote bigotry on TV is always good. They should never be comfortable to go out in public if they want to cause harm like that. A politician and a propogandist that influences millions of people are both good targets.

Politicians are definitely fair game, but I'd argue people like Cucker Tarlson have more power than the vast majority of individual members of Congress. You will run into that insufferable quote Liberals love to repeat about picking fights with people who buy ink by the barrel though. You need to clown a person like Carlson decisively, or it probably isn't worth bothering.

the core of it is a very narrow liberal viewpoint that Politics is only done by Politicians, not by those who spread ideas. it really doesn't make sense
