Vampiric for-profit healthcare that bleeds the poor dry might have been a mistake.
The only reason it is free (discounting tax dollars etc going to pharma on gouging no-bid deals etc) is because poor Americans not getting vaccinated has the potential to hurt rich Americans. If you could suddenly catch diabetes from your valet you better believe they'd find a way to provide insulin for free.
the vaccine isn't free, it cost at least a day to rehabilitate from, for most people I know. Pay them to take it.

There's also the aspect that many things, such as flu shots, are billed as "free*" and underneath it's "*under most insurance plans". If you're uninsured you quickly learn the rule of thumb that any interaction with the medical system is going to cost you out the ass.
Or just generate a bill so large that you have to duck it for the next seven years, which means that your credit score tanks and your access to housing suffers.
The "health issue" is that you may feel bad for, like, 3-4 days at worst. Pretty damn close to no one requires medical attention, barring people who have severe allergic reactions. Don't be silly.
Oh I don't know. Although I did hear about some places that are trying to make it mandatory to have businesses give people one or two rest days to get vaccinated, which should definitely be a thing. But generally I only know one person who had side effects for 3 days, for most of the people who did have them they didn't last very long. I've done only the first dose of Moderna (doing the second one in a couple of days) but at least the first dose didn't give me any side effects at all.

I got mine at a mass vaccination drive organized by my insurance company. They didn’t charge me anything up front, but later got a billed by my insurance.

I had a comorbidity and it was as difficult to get as a PS5 at the time.
