    I’ve had a shitlib I know irl try to chastise me for the same thing despite knowing I had to flee my own home to avoid bigotry and systemic violence. This particular person also confided in me that they’re scared of black People and “jealous of the struggle I’ve had in my life.” Absolutely beyond parody.

        I think it’s because they had a very comfortable upbringing and thought going through hardship would somehow give them the strength/motivation/discipline to actually try like in movies.

            Yeah, same here. It’s taken a lot of constant work and relapse to get myself into a relatively healthy situation and it’s pretty obvious I feel. I really was blown away they would even admit that to me.
