I'm having dinner tomorrow with a woman who I know is really into anime. I read JoJo's and skimmed through MHA, but have otherwise no clue what the hell is popular, so I am asking you to give me a short run-down of current popular shows so our conversation does not completely & awkwardly drown if it comes to that.

Thanks In Advance.

Just ask her about the anime she likes. I'm sure she'd be delighted to tell you about it.

Seconded, OP if this woman is really into anime then you will do her a great service by being curious and steering conversation into her favorite anime(s) and what she finds so magnificent about them.

Trick 17: Simply ask the Woman what you want to ask us and just dont think the conversation will drown if she tells you about her Interest

    way less "fake" approach ....

If OP takes the advice in this thread seriously, it could go very well. “Let’s get together and watch your favorite anime so you can geek out about your favorite parts” is a badass second date

Yeah you're worrying too much. Just ask her what she likes and go from there. Ask for recommendations or whatever. If she's into anime I'm sure she's into other nerd stuff too like video games and whatever. You'll be fine dawg!

Hey, do the smart thing, say you don't know that much about anime, but you'd like to watch it with her.

You could always just ask her what stuff she'd recommend you watch and maybe it would give you an excuse to chill and watch anime :soviet-bashful:

If you really need one look through some isekai anime, those are usually popular. Good luck!

I have friends who know way more about anime than I do, and if I don't know the one they're talking about I ask them what it's about or get them to show it to me. A lot of anime fans love introducing their favourite shows to people who haven't seen them yet and if you respond positively they'll probably be excited to share.

Think of it as a fun way to discover some new shows!

Good luck, I'll send you positive vibes! :comfy-cool:

Ask her about what she likes. If you absolutely need something to talk about watch a movie and you can bring that up. Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and anything by Satoshi Kon are classics. Ghibli would work as well, I recommend Grave of the Fireflies.

You read Jojo and MHA you’ll seriously be fine. If she’s a huge nerd let her lead the conversation and ask questions if she brings up something interesting. If she’s just into the super popular recent stuff this’ll be even easier. Either way, odds are your taste or interest will overlap somewhere. Maybe you can open up the possibility of a Netflix and chill date this way 👀

Once she starts losing you or you run out of things to say, just steer the conversation into movies or games or any other media you’re into. There’s so much anime out there, there’s got to be some movie or book or whatever you like that’s similar to something she’s into. Easy segway. And like ssjmarx said, if both of you show the same interest in each other’s shit you’re in homie.

Tell her your favorite anime is Boku no Pico (this was a joke, do not do this)

To add to all of the people telling you to ask her what she likes, be ready to talk about something equivalent you like. If she's as interested in your hobbies as you are in hers, that could lead to fukken sparks.
