are you a director looking to convey that someone is a twisted cyclepath? try "having the actor lick a long knife"!

Hot take: I liked how orange the scenes were on Arrakis. It was pretty much how I pictured it in the book.

Finally, I will be able to supply the long-awaited answer to the question: "Was the Villenueve Dune film good?"

I saw the Ahsoka show, they seemed to be copying or were inspired by the cinematography of this version of Dune...the wide aerial shots of megastructure thing. I think I like it. Part 2 seems more like a love story based on this trailer though.

Part 2 - This time with plot.

Side note, is Chapterhouse dune worth reading? Been reading all the Frank Herbert novels in order and liking them quite a bit, but I'm not sure what will motivate the Fifth.

Eh, big shrug emoji from me as a massive fan.

If you already read Heretics of Dune you might as well because it continues the story, but it ends on a cliffhanger and then Frank Herbert died before writing the final book of the series so it doesn't actually culminate with anything. IMO you only "have" to read through God Emperor of Dune to get the payoff for the Atreides story, and can take or leave the last two books.

Also I strongly recommend avoiding the Brian Herbert stuff unless you like Star Wars EU style pulp.

I really like chapter House, although it is very horney, so prepare yourself

The first one was so boring and lifeless it put me to sleep multiple times during multiple attempts at trying to watch it after so much "hype". That was a heck of an accomplishment because I usually enjoy immersive dense films. I really enjoyed Blade Runner. So I was really willing to give it an honest go.

I was told ok ok ok, well it gets better just wait for the 2nd one and they put out this ASMR monotone stiff flat wisper emotionless bored actor lazily reading a page with the feeling of an empty room? Where does it "get better"? Just stop whispering! Add some color. At least have the actors act like there is something of an environment that they're in.

Do people need to be on a drug to enjoy this series? Is there some secret I'm missing? It doesn't feel any different except all those visions is paid off with an equally flat plastic void of a relationship. Is this some inside joke or something?

I dunno. I guess it's not for you. No doubt a lot of my enjoyment came from seeing a book series I love being brought to the screen again. Regardless, it's ok not to like it and be confounded as to why others do

As a fan of the books, they cut out so much necessary stuff I can't blame anyone for being bored. Part 2 looks like it is going to cut even more.

That's the issue I've got with this adaptation as a Dune Guy. Dune is fucking weird and the visuals should look like they could be airbrushed on a 70s van
