So this is actually provably false. Manufacturing Consent began as a series of articles that were written before Inventing Reality. Parenti actually quotes a few of them in Inventing Reality.

I can see why someone might be "anti-Stalinist" back in the day (Orwell was wrong about a lot of things, but he was right about how Soviet persecution of Trotskyists crippled unity among the ranks and opposition to Franco), but there's nothing left of Stalinist political influence (except in cliquish online communities) to be angry about these days.
