They live (1988) - A homeless man discovers a conspiracy made by aliens to infiltrate and control humanity. 👾
Come and See (1985) - During WWII, a Belarusian boy is thrust into the atrocities of war, fighting with a hopelessly unequipped Soviet resistance movement against ruthless German forces. Witnessing scenes of abject terror and surviving horrifying situations, he loses his innocence and then his mind. :sus-torment: (big content warning for this one very graphic)
=== MASSIVE CONTENT WARNING FOR COME AND SEE ===
You're going to want to watch Come and See because it's an important film, and it's very good.
But you're only going to watch it once.
Yeah, that’s not something I’m mentally set up to do. It’s an excellent film but I’d happily give it a decade between viewings.
specific content warnings for those who need them (this website checks for some slightly odd stuff but it does also get all the important shit from what i can see)
Come and See is phenomenal, but one of those movies you probably only watch once. The criterion release has some awesome supplemental docs and shit too.
pls pin for movie friday @DashEightMate @CARCOSA @ella @KiraNerys @Zangief @Zoift @KenBonesWildRide @ANITINSTITUTIONALISM
Ha! The film I picked got picked. Heads up about They Live. It starts very slowly. Also, prepare yourself for the best fight scene of all time.
I watched they live recently, pretty good movie all and all I often wish I could have the see through propaganda glasses that are in the movie.
i could only stick around for the first film, but it slapped. always love the energy in the chat too :meow-hug:
Come and See is going to wreck you emotionally, mentally, and maybe physically. Hard to imagine how much this actually happened.
