Not unless GRRM has time machine, he wrote about him in 2005. He's pretty much the same as the book.
On the other hand, the High Sparrow was blown up thanks to a single phone call to Obama... :obama-drone:
He looks much more like pope Francis to me (the actor actually played him in a movie too) the actual character is from the books
Yeah asoiaf is good but it’s basically British history with the nouns swapped out(and I guess added magic and ice zombies).
I think any allusions someone finds to modern day America is just reading their ideology into, (which Tbf isn’t invalid or anything I just don’t think it was the authorial intent)
Oh damn, who was that woman who would caption a bunch of stills from the show and thus rewrite them as comedies? She made him into Bernie for sure, and then uhhhh Fat Failson's baby son into a communist-revolutionary-in-waiting. Shit was funny.
I suspect you may be talking about /u/ChrysWatchesGot on reddit; example here. I enjoyed these too. Full list of recap here - she does other shows now too.
I think that's what the casting department in Game Of Thrones was going for. I don't think they had any deeper thought to it, just "hey this guy is a populist, let's pick someone who looks like Bernie."
I thought it was supposed to be an overtly pope type character.
Probably not. I don't think the song if ice and fire books really have much to say outside of "wow cool fantasy worldbuilding." Like, they're a fun read but I'm not sure what, if anything you're supposed to take away from them.
To the extent that there's a message, I'd say it's something like "this system is fundamentally violent, and no amount of "good" people in charge can change that."
I think this is a reverse association. I remember Twitter libs referring to Bernie derisively as the high sparrow, but I don't think the show writers were clever enough to try to do that.
No - he's more of a Leveler or Digger sort of character.
