VP: “As I understand the situation, […] war is imminent.”

Senior Dev: “The change is live.”

Glad to know we take these things seriously. Yes, we do have Chinese clients which we did not talk to about this. Thank you for asking.

    war is imminent

No, and even if it were, what of it? Rename it to “Taiwan (Sheet of Radioactive Glass)”?

Now now, the whole rhetoric of the CCP for decades is that they want Taiwan to you know just remember that hey we are all Chinese at the end of the day, and bring them back into the fold.

      Glass Taiwan?

      Nah.

Get ready for the evaporation of aircraft carriers and their entire support groups at the atomic level.

They might glass US and allied bases in SK, Japan and Crocodile Dundee land if they are actually insane enough to pull the trigger.

As I understand it we should have /some/ more time until the invasion of Taiwan, mainly because they need more numbers of and more reliable marine landing vehicles with greater ranges.

China hasn't made a single actual step towards invading Taiwan for reunification since the end of the Chinese Civil War.

It has been like 70 years of the US telling us they're gonna invade any second now, and China has continued to not invade and maintain the policy of waiting for reunification to happen naturally.

        But y'know go off, king

The CPC has also been adamant that waiting decades for reunification is vastly preferable to using violence for the purpose.

Plus the US and friends are the only ones genocidal enough to be "glassing" countries. Saying China would glass Japan is one thing, but how can you say with a straight face that they would do that to South Korea when socialist reunification is essentially the most foundational element of the DPRK, that close ally of China that shares a land border with it? The DPRK might literally fire nukes on Beijing if that happened.

An ableist liberal talking like they know something we don't and being smuglord about it? How do you figure China is about to do any of those things? If you really knew something we don't know, you'd probably also know it's CPC, not CCP.

You use a lot of "they" and "we" in your comment - could you be more specific? Who are They and We?

They might glass US and allied bases

we should have /some/ more time until the invasion

? Do you think I should be concerned? I live within a couple hours of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. Are They going to glass me?

They're likely never going to invade. All they have to do is crush the green coalition, continue to salt the blues with RCCK sympathisers, and run out the clock.

Sure war could happen but only if the US starts an open blockade.

I am.under the impression most people of Taiwan don't wanna go to war with China. They'd take a pile of belt and road cash to join up before they take up arms

Why was it listed as a province of China in the first place? It's been de facto independent for decades regardless of whether or not the US pretends to honor one China two systems.

ISO 3166 is the international standard which records the official names of countries and territories. The official name of Taiwan Island per that standard is "Taiwan, Province of China".

As for "de facto independence", statehood works off of international recognition, not necessarily just the situation on the ground. Much of Palestine has been de facto occupied and integrated into Israel for just as long, yet very few people here (or internationally) recognize those occupied territories to be a legitimate part of Israel.
