Hey dude I don't mean to burst your bubble but you didn't lose your leg for pushing the Taliban back you lost your leg so some corporate weapons manufacturers could make a bag, the CIA could get ahold the opium trade, and the US could export some unrest into Xinjiang.

    So... Lol

A very conservative estimate is 10,000 direct Afghan deaths per year due to occupation.

But let's hear from the Anglo imperialist occupiers who sacrificed limbs for neocolonial lies.

It's one of the purest forms of chauvinism and it's ubiquitous.

Sometimes people do "how many [insert country] lives are worth one American life?" comparisons. Some are based on news coverage, generally by Western outlets. It's usually in the hundreds to thousands.

They do it for Palestinians vs. Israelis as well.

I really can't understand this kind of chauvinism on an emotional level.

We see it on the internet all the time. You just have to think of it as the PCs versus the NPCs. Anglos are the only ones with real agency. They did a 150,000 man raid into Afghanistan for 20 years but they could never beat the final boss. Now all that time and energy and money and labor they spent is wasted, so they are sad. They are also very angry at their mom for canceling their SonyPlus Pass.

If I didn't want to end up maimed, heartbroken and feeling that all my efforts were for nothing, I simply wouldn't have volunteered for an imperialistic war.

I have yet to meet a veteran who was on the ground in Afghanistan who didn't see this coming. Maybe they thought it'd take months instead of weeks, but everyone knew the Afghan army was unreliable and would fold.

I'm not usually for writing to politicians but I'mma make an exception this time and write to him all about how the loss of his leg wasn't for nothing it was for wall street and the defence contractor shareholders. I hope he appreciates the correction.

i dont get leftists who shit on enlisted soliders. most everyone, including you before you were a leftist, doesn't know that the military serves to extract resources, and create profit. Most enlisted ppl do it bc it is simply the best option to escape poverty for them, family pressures, or think they are doing good and helping people like they have been told since birth

here is an ok video about the topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0wZH6meDdc

Are you really saying poor people are too stupid to know that the US military is used mainly to fight wars in exploited countries for resources (aka 'we invaded them for oil')?

88% of the US public supported military action in Afghanistan in 2001, so most Americans (at that time, anyway) would have been pretty clueless, poor or not. Many still are, and it's not too difficult to see why if you pay attention to US media/culture at all.

literally 90% of people around me believe troops fight for our freedom, so if you are calling those people poor/stupid, then yes

yeah, p much every American is brainwashed to believe serving in the military is among the most "honorable" and "self-less" things to do. obviously, with a leftist worldview, they would understand the awful things the military does/serves, just insulting them and calling them kid killers is just gonna further drive them away from any outside ideas and discredit anything you are saying

      1. How dare you. I make fun of people who don't know things all the time, it's half the fun of the internet.

      2. It's very irresponsible to misplace a leg in Afghanistan.

lol i dont know anyone my age who defends landlords or thinks cops are perfect, those same people however do think serving is somewhat good due to being told to believe so since birth
