They're different kinds of movements. Nobody ever burned down a police station over #MeToo. If we go into another recessionary spiral, it won't be Gloria Steinem taking to the streets again.

Citations Needed literally just did this one, holy fuck. Murders are rising from 2020 because everyone was inside, you Reuters fuckwits! Is this even /c/politics worthy? This is some /c/the_dunk_tank tier shit. Seriously. :citations-needed:

I mean…the Democrats were always a pro-cop party and the defund the police movement was always pretty small (though obviously correct) to begin with? I don’t see how this is news.

The Dems that run the big cities are pond scum, absolute trash, despicable pieces of shit, and if you waved a magic wand and made all the Republicans disappear overnight they wouldn't have a moral pot to piss in.

I hate whatever ironies of fate that vaguely align me with these malignant clowns

There are people who mock "both parties are the same" but some Democratic cities really aren't governed that much differently from Republican run ones.

Even if at best policing does anything, it's only a bit part of larger initiatives to attack unique inner city problems at their core. The pandemic brought along with it the total, or near total collapse of social service programs in many inner cities, which were band aids to begin with. The idea of general solutions is so mind numbing, and yet the same bullshit persists despite having seen what funding social services to even a small extent could do.

People get an extremely conditional UBI and free healthcare but only if you have covid and violence went down. Those got taken away and violence went back up. This clearly proves that we need to spend more money militarizing the police.

The urban political class tells the media what they want, so that in turn the media class can publish what the urban political class wants to hear.
